About Pte. Tamati "Thomas McLean" Makarini
Tamati Makarini (aka. Thomas McLean) was the son of Makarini and Heneriata Puhata, of Waitakaro, Ruatoria, New Zealand. Native of East Coast, New Zealand. Husband of Mate McLean (divorced), of Hawai, Bay of Plenty. Father of Ka McLean born Waimā on 11 November 1915. Bushman for J. Brown of Paerata, Ōpōtiki. Died of wounds, in the field, Belgium. Buried in the Buttes New British Cemetery. Also remembered on the Ōpōtiki War Memorial.
