About Pte. William Lobley
William Lobley and Jessie Whittey married at Aberdare in Australia on 30 January 1909, and their son Albert was born at Bellambi on 7 August 1911. They later lived in Gisborne, New Zealand.
Mrs Lobley has received advice that her husband, Private Wm. Lobley, has been reported missing and believed to have been killed. Some weeks ago Mrs Lobley was advised that her husband was wounded, and heard nothing further until the sad tidings came to hand on Saturday night. Private Lobley was employed by Messrs Common, Shelton, and Co, when he enlisted with the. 19th Reinforcements. He was 30 years of age and leaves a widow and one child, for whom much sympathy will be felt. Source: Poverty Bay Herald (17 July 1917, p. 3).
