Rabbi Abraham Zak (Zera Kodesh) I, ABD Ostrog

Disciple of Rabbi Shlomo Luria, MaHaRSHaL. Finished the Maharshal's commentary "Yam Shel Shlomo" on Bava Kamma (first published Prague, 1616). Nicknamed "Rabbi Avraham of Russia." Succeeded R. Shlomo b. Mordechai ("Mizbeach Zahav) as the Chief Rabbi of Ostroho (Ostrog) in Ukraine. As Chief Rabbi he exercised great authority in the Ukrainian region. According to family tradition he was a descendant of Rabbeinu Yaakov Asher ben Asher, Baal HaTurim

Zak is an acronym for Zera K'doshim = "descendants of the martyrs."

נקרא גם בשם אברהם דרוסיה,כנראה שהיה יליד רוסיה,מגדולי תלמידיו של המהרש"ל שהחשיב אותו מאד...כנראה שהוא זה שהשלים את הספר "ים של שלמה" למסכת בבא קמא ,שהמהרש"ל התחיל לכתוב,אך לא הספיק לסיים את כתיבת הספר.
