About Rev. Peter Folsom, Chief to the Choctaw Nation
In 1846, Peter Folsom was elected chief of Mosholatubbee District for four years. He was a student of Choctaw Academy in Kentucky, son of Col. David Folsom. He is often listed as being the son of Edmund and Yokahti, but this is incorrect. "History of the Choctaw, Chickasaw and Natchez Indians" By Horatio Bardwell Cushman says concerning his death that his brother Judge Loring Folsom was now the only living son of David and Rhoda Nail Folsom.
