Biography
From Pane-Joyce Genealogical Project: 40405. Richard Church. Born on 21 Nov 1703 in Little Compton, RI. In Sep 1731 Richard married Mary Record, daughter of Jonathan Record (3 Feb 1681/2-1 Jun 1742) & Mary Wilbor (ca 1686-1771), in Little Compton, RI. Born on 23 Apr 1707 in Little Compton, RI. Mary died in Little Compton, RI, on 10 Feb 1784; she was 76.
There is no death record or grave found for Richard but from the birth date of his youngest child, Charles, it is evident that he lived until at least early 1740. According to his father's will (see Biography of Joseph Church Jr. (Church-172)), Richard was entitled to 100 Pounds at age twenty three and another 50 pounds if he built a house. It is unclear what Richard's occupation was, however, his son, Charles, was evidently a seaman. Like many living along the southeastern coast of New England at this point in history, Richard may have supported his family through a combination of small farming along with fishing and/or sea trade.
Children
Richard and Mary (Records) Church had the following (3) children:[1]
Grace, born 4 December 1731; married David Brownell
Mary, born 5 June 1736
Charles, born 23 September 1740
