His Testament Dative
Margaret Crawford, Lady Hunterston, gave up the testament dative of her deceased husband, in name and behalf of her younger children, viz: Jane, Marion, Katherine, Elizabeth and Hugh Hunters. They were confirmed as executors dative by the Commissary of Edinburgh on 1 December 1581 No mention is made of his sons Robert and William. Robert was probably omitted because he was the eldest son and would succeed to his father's heritage land but William may have predeceased his father. Some Family Papers of the Hunters of Hunterston
