"Heimericus" names "Williswinda avia ipsius Heimericus" in an undated charter relating to a donation to Kloster Lorsch[504]. "Karolus…rex Francorum", in an undated charter (placed in the compilation with charters dated 772) related to Kloster Lorsch, names "avia…Heimerici…Williswinda vel genitor suus Cancor, germano suo domino Ruodgango archiepiscopo"[505]. The primary source which confirms her parentage, and that her husband was named Robert, has not yet been identified.

Robert [I] & his wife had [three] children:

1. CANCOR (-771). Graf im Rheingau. "Cancor…Rhenensis pagi comes cum matre sua…Williswinda vidua Ruperti comitis" founded Kloster Lorsch by charter dated 764[506]. "Williswinda…et filius meus Cancor" donated "villam…in pago Wormatiense…Hagenheim super fluvium Salusiam", inherited from "genitoris mei…Adelhelmi", to monastery "Lauresham in pago Rhenense super fluvium Wisgotz" by charter dated 12 Jul 764, signed by "…Heimerici filii Cancronis"[507]. The Chronicon Laureshamense records the donation dated "764 IV Id Iul" in Hagenheim by "Williswinda…et filius meus Cancor comes"[508]. "Cancor et Angila conjux mea" donated property "in illa marcha de Bisistat…de dote Angilæ" [Birstatt] to Lorsch by charter dated 1 Jun 770, signed by "Thurincberti fratris ipsius Cancronis et Heimerici filii sui"[509]. The Annalium Laureshamensium record the death in 771 of "Cancor"[510]. m ANGILA, daughter of --- (-after 1 Jun 770). "Cancor et Angila conjux mea" donated property "in illa marcha de Bisistat…de dote Angilæ" [Birstatt] to Lorsch by charter dated 1 Jun 770, signed by "Thurincberti fratris ipsius Cancronis et Heimerici filii sui"[511]. The Chronicon Laureshamense records the donation of "villa Bisistat" dated 1 Jun 770 by "comitis Cancronis et uxoris eius Angila"[512]. Cancor & his wife had [five] children:

a) HEIMRICH [Heimo] (-killed in battle Lüne an der Elbe 5 May 795).
b) [CHRODGANG [Hruotgang] (-after [772]).
c) ERMBERT (-803).
d) RACHILT (-after 1 Nov 792).
e) EUPHEMIA .

2. [ANSELM . Europäische Stammtafeln[525] shows Anselm (-killed in battle Roncesvalles 15 Aug 788), comes palatii, as the son of Robert [I] but the primary source on which this is based has not yet been identified. "Carolus…rex Francorum et Langobardorum" granted the monastery of Plaisir to Folrad abbot of Saint-Denis by charter dated 28 Jul 775 which name "fidelibus…Ghaerardo, Bernardo, Radulfo, Hilderado, Ermenaldo, Hebroino, Theudbaldo, Agneone comitibus, Haltberto, Laumberto, Haererico et Anselmo comite palatio nostro"[526]. "Carolus…rex Francorum et Langobardorum" gave a judgment by charter dated to [Dec 775] which names "fidelibus…Widrigo, Odrigo, Theodrico, Bernehardo, Albuino, Aginhardo, Berngario comitibus et Anshelmo comite palacii nostri"[527]. Einhard records that "Eggihardus regiæ mensæ præpositus, Anselmus comes palatii et Hruodlaudus Brittanici limitis præfectus" were killed against “Wascones” having crossed the Pyrenees, dated from the context to the 780s[528]. The epitaph of “Aggiardi” records his death “XVIII Kal Sep”[529], which suggests that the three were killed at the first battle of Roncesvalles, dated 15 Aug 778.]
3. THURINGBERT (-Jun 770 or after). "Cancor et Angila conjux mea" donated property "in illa marcha de Bisistat…de dote Angilæ" [Birstatt] to Lorsch by charter dated 1 Jun 770, signed by "Thurincberti fratris ipsius Cancronis et Heimerici filii sui"[530]. The Chronicon Laureshamense records "Thurincberti fratris ipsius Cancronis" as signatory of the donation dated 1 Jun 770 by "comitis Cancronis et uxoris eius Angila"[531]. "Turincbertus" donated property to Lorsch by charter dated 1 Nov 767 subscribed by "Heimerici comitis"[532]. Grundherr im Rheingau und Wormsgau. "Turincbertus et filius meus Rotbertus" donated property "in pago Rinensi in villa…Birstat" to Lorsch by charter dated Jun 770[533]. m ---. The name of Thuringbert's wife is not known. Thuringbert & his wife had one child:

Rodbert (Ruprecht, Robert of Hesbaye) (c710-after 764), dux in Haspengau (Hesbaye), count in the Upper Rhine, Wormsgau, and Masuariergau, and Count Palatine (741/42) and Missus (757) in Italy. He was an important pillar of the Carolingians.

He was son of Lambert, Bishop of Metz. His mother was possibly Chrotlind, daughter of Théodéric III, Merovingian king of Austrasia.

Robert I., auch: Rupert I. († vor 764) war Graf im Worms- und Oberrheingau. Er war verwandt mit dem Mitte des 9. Jahrhunderts durch den Grafen Robert den Tapferen begründeten mittelrheinischen Geschlecht der Robertiner.

732 wurde worde Robert I. „Dux“ im Haspengau und Graf im Oberrhein- und Wormsgau und war ab 741/42 königlicher Pfalzgraf und 757 königlicher Missus in Italien. Er war auch Graf im Masuariergau und eine bedeutende Stütze der Karolinger.[1]

Robert I. leitete 756/57 gemeinsam mit Abt Fulrad von Saint-Denis die Durchführung der Verträge mit den Langobarden. Rodbert war bereits verstorben, als seine Witwe Williswinda und sein Sohn Cancor 764 das Kloster Lorsch gründeten.[2] Inhaltsverzeichnis [Anzeigen]

Robert I. war Sohn Graf Lantberts II. Er war ein Verwandter des Bischofs Chrodegang von Metz. Er heiratete 730 Williswint (auch Williswinda, † nach 764), Tochter des Grafen Adelhelm im Wormsgau. Er hatte vier Söhne:

1. Cancor, wurde nach 782 Graf im Oberrheingau und Gründer des Klosters Lorsch
2. Anselm, Pfalzgraf, nach 778 gefallen bei Roncesvalles
3. Robert, wurde nach 786 Abt von Saint-Germain-des-Fossés
4. Thüringbert

Robert "le Fort" (Rotbertus Fortis, Robert "the Strong")..........

Probable mother: Waldrade (Wialdrut), living 19 February 834....

He was evidently the count Robert whose son Robert donated two manses in Mettenheim in 8367 [Codex Lauresh., 2: 306-7 (#1826), see above].

Attempts at further identification of this Robert suffer from the possibility of confusing different men with the same name. On 8 March 812, a count Rotbertus appears with several other counts in a court record of Charlemagne [MGH DD KdG, 289 (#216)]. ...

The cartulary of Lorsch shows a count Robert in Wormsgau on 12 June 795 ["... ego Rubertus comes ...", Codex Lauresh., 2: 236 (#1541)] and in Rheingau on 25 March 804 ["... signum Rutperti comitis, ..." ibid., 1: 318 (#222)] and on 20 February 807 ["... signum Rutperti comitis..." ibid., 1: 319 (#224)].

Glöckner would identify him as Robert "II" and make him the father of Robert "III" (with no direct evidence for the affiliation). 

This Robert "II" would then be identified by Glöckner as "probably" the same as the Robert son of Turimbert who appears in the Lorsch cartulary in 769770 ["... ego Turinebertus, & filius meus Ruotpertus, ..." ibid., 1: 285 (#168)].

Although Turimbert does not have a title in the documents in which he appears, and Robert son of Turimbert also appears without a title,

Turincbert was the son of a count Robert "I", whose son Cancor and widow Williswinte founded Lorsch in 764 [see Glöckner (1936), 303-5; Codex Lauresh., 1: 2], which is why Glöckner would identify Turimbert's son as Robert "II" [Gl%C3%B6ckner (1936), 305].

On the other hand, Siegwart does not accept the identification of Robert "II" with Robert son of Turimbert, and instead makes Robert "II" the son of a Robert "I" (different from the Robert "I" of Glöckner), son of count Hnabi who was the maternal grandfather of Hildegard, wife of Charlemagne [Siegwart (1958), 157]

Chaume regarded the Robert "II" and "III" of Glöckner as a single count Robert of Rheingau (fl. 795-834, whose son Robert, fl. 836-7, he regarded as distinct from Robert le Fort), in turn a conjectured son of count Heimrich, son of count Cancor, son of count Robert and Williswinte [Chaume (1925), 537 (table #5)]. ....
