Robert Ormsby enrolled 24 Aug 1864. From Otahuhu/ Ballymascallon,Louth,Ireland.... SETTLER age 41 yrs. 5ft 9ins Height. Transferred from S Waikato Malititia Married 6 children.
War Medal Awards to Colonials. Robert Ormsby vol. 1st Waikato Regiment 1863 - 1866 Applied 1913 Rejected 1913 not under fire.
Statement in Footprints in History Vol 2 , at Te Awamutu Museum. Robert and Rangihurihia were Married Maori Style in 1848. The European Marriage ceremony was listed in John Morgan's Marriage Register for the 25 Nov 1958. Rangihurihia was 27 years then.

Article From The Te Awamutu Museum related to the Old "Waipa Post" press which lay on the Banks of the Waipa for some 20 years..(Besides some of the uses the old press was put to by the locals,) we read: Mr Robert Ormsby, a lay missionary teacher who lived at Whatiwhatihoe, tried to induce the Maoris tp print the Sermon on the Mount in the Waikato (Maori) dialect. Disputes arose as to the use of the press and it was never used for printing at Kopua
