About Samuel Towner

SAMUEL^ TOWNER, (Richard^) b. in Branford, Conn., the exact date not being shown. He married Rebecca Barnes, Jan. 25, 1716, who was born at North Haven, Conn., Dec. 12, 1691, and who was a grand- daughter of Thomas Barnes, of East Haven, Conn., who was one of the signers of the constitution of the colony of Connecticut in 1644. Samuel had by her five children ; she died at Wallingford, Conn., Jan. 31, 1728. He mar- ried again, June 27, 1728, Amy Ward, daughter of Capt. William Ward, of Wallingford.

By his first wife he had:

36 Samuel,^ b. Branford, about 1720-1. A deed was recorded, in 1742, in Waterbury, made by Samuel Towner of Goshen, to his beloved son, Samuel, of Waterbury. No other record of him has been found, and he probably died soon after.

37 David,^ b. "Wallingford, March 3rd, 1724; d. New Fairfield, Conn., 1772.
