Sandra Mihanovich Cahen (born April 24, 1957) is an Argentine singer, musician, and composer of Rock, Blues, and Tango rhythms. She was born in the Recoleta neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina, the daughter of Iván Mihanovich Nazar, a polo player of Croatian descent -and heir to a shipping fortune- and Mónica Cahen D'Anvers, a famous journalist and TV anchorperson with Ashkenazi ancestry. She inherited from her paternal grandfather her passion for jazz music. After completing high school, she studied music at the Universidad Católica Argentina and, since March 1976, also theater at the Conservatorio de Arte Dramático. Her singing début was at "La Ciudad" pub on May 20, 1976. While working the pub circuit, she met fellow musician and composers Alejandro Lerner, Marilina Ross, Celeste Carballo, Horacio Fontova and Ruben Rada, whose songs she went on to include in her repertoire. She met her first producer, Ricardo Kleinman, after a show at the Universidad de Belgrano. On October 1982, she became the first female soloist holding a show at Obras, widely known as the Argentine "Rock Cathedral". In 1986 she won the "Antorcha de Plata" at the Viña del Mar Song Festival in Chile. The Legislative Chamber of Buenos Aires named her "Distinguished Personality of the Culture of the City" to honor her thirty years long career. As an actress, she starred in the "Vulnerables" TV series (1999) about a self healing therapy group and other movies and TV programs.

Es una renombrada cantante y actríz argentina. Hereda de su abuelo paterno, la pasión por la música de jazz. No obstante, su estilo musical es bastante amplio llegando a interpretar rock, música pop, baladas y jazz, entre otras temáticas a las que se amolda con facilidad. Destaca por su potente y afinada voz, como también por su forma de transmitir los sentimientos expresados en las letras de los temas que interpreta.

Cronología de su carrera [editar]

Al término de su educación media, estudió música en la UCA.

   * En marzo de 1976 estudió teatro en el Conservatorio de Arte Dramático y canta en distintos pubs de la ciudad. Su 1ª presentación fue el 20 de mayo de 1976 en un lugar llamado "La Ciudad". Cantando en los pubs conoce a músicos como Alejandro Lerner, Marilina Ross, Celeste Carballo, Horacio Fontova, Rubén Rada, autores de los que posteriormente grabaría algunos de sus temas. En ese mismo año el productor Ricardo Kleinman la ve en su actuación en la Universidad de Belgrano y comienza a producirla.

* En 1979 forma parte del elenco de "La Isla" una película de Alejandro Doria, y bajo las órdenes del mismo director filma en 1980 "Los miedos" junto a María Leal, Soledad Silveyra, entre otros.
* Diciembre de 1981 graba "Puerto Pollensa", material de sus canciones y de los autores que fue conociendo.
* 1982, ciclo de grabaciones anuales.
* 2 de octubre de 1982 llena el "Obras" (estadio del Club Obras Sanitarias de la Nación, Av. del Libertador, catedral del rock & roll argentino). Fue la 1ª mujer en cantar allí e hizo dos funciones consecutivas.
* 1986 participa del "Festival internacional de Viña del Mar", Chile, donde obtiene la "Antorcha de Plata".
* 1987 en Mar del Plata junto con Celeste Carballo y Ludovica Squirru. Sigue en dúo con Celeste hasta 1990. Hace "Somos mucho más que dos" y "Mujer contra mujer".
* Diciembre de 1990 se va a Europa y reside en 1991 con su abuelo materno. Solista canta en una sala de UNESCO.
* 1988 sale "Somos mucho más que dos" el primer disco que grabó junto con Celeste Carballo.
* 1990 sale "Mujer contra mujer" el segundo y último disco que grabó a dúo con Celeste Carballo.
* 1992 sale "Todo brilla", premio ACE categoría mejor baladista femenina.
* 1994 aparece "Cambio de planes", premio ACE categoría mejor baladista femenina.
* 1995 protagoniza una obra teatral con canciones de María Elena Walsh "El país del no me acuerdo". Es conductora de TV en "Latin Music" por Much Music. El programa gana el "Martín Fierro 1996": mejor programa de música latina.
* 1998 en teatro con la obra "Manuelita de Pehuajó". Conduce "Otro Cantar", en FM La Isla, miércoles de 22 a 24, junto a su hermano, el músico Vane Mihanovich.
* 1999 participa en la exitosa serie de TV "Vulnerables".
* 2000 sale el CD "Todo tiene un lugar".
* 2003 participa como actriz y como solista, en TV, con "Costumbres Argentinas". Sale el CD "Sin tu Amor".
* 2005 en "Radio Mega", graba con Patricia Sosa el Himno Nacional Argentino. Por sus treinta años de trayectoria la Legislatura de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires la declara "Personalidad Destacada de la Cultura en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires". Actúa en la miniserie de TV "Criminal".
* 2006 junto a Andrea del Boca actúa en "Gladiadores de Pompeya.
* 2007 cumple 30 años junto a la música y sus 50 años, edita disco en vivo grabado en el Teatro Opera con sus clásicos. Del mismo promete editar su primer DVD.
Vida privada [editar]

Si bien fue de público conocimiento su relación con la cantautora Celeste Carballo en los años 80, Sandra Mihanovich se ha negado a realizar declaraciones públicas, incluso hasta el día de hoy. Considera que la sociedad de hoy aún no está preparada para hablar sobre "el tema gay" y que prefiere la integración antes que los ghettos.[1
