Sarah, daughter of Capt. John Ashton (d. 1677) and his wife Grace Frizer.

After the death of her husband Philip Alexander (c. 1705) in Stafford County, widow Sarah married (2) after 1705 but before 17 MAY 1706 to Capt. Thomas Clifton who served as a justice of Stafford County between 1702 and 1703, and was a son of James Clifton (c.1740-1714) and Anne Brent.

Sarah Married (3) to David McGill who died testate 5 NOV 1725 in St. Paul's Parish, Stafford County. Mrs. Sarah McGill is mentioned in the will of her brother Henry Ashton, dated 26 FEB 1730, proved 24 NOV 1731 in Westmoreland County. Sarah McGill made out an unsigned will in November 1748 that was proved 14 MAR 1749 in Stafford County. St. Paul's Parish Registere gives only 1749 as the year of her death for "Sarah McGill, Gentlewoman."

The oldest Alexander Family Cemetery is located just inside the gate at what was the original Salisbury tract, also known as Caledon, or more recently Cedar Grove Farm, in what is now King George County, Virginia.
