Death

A date and place of death has not been identified for Sir Andrew Ogilvy of Inchmartine, here treated. He was alive on 16 April 1461, Melville and Leslie Charters: charter number 47 and may still have been alive on 31 July 1461, NRS: GD26/3/998 but he probably died before 18 May 1462, when his eldest son and heir is noticed as David Ogilvy of Inchmartine. NRS: GD26/3/999 He certainly died before 30 April 1492. RMS 1424-1513: charter number 2886

20 February 1439: Charter by which Sir Andrew Ogilvy of Inchmartine and his wife Marjorie confirm that they have given the lands of Balmulto in the sheriffdom of Fife to David Bosvile of Craigincat in exchange for David's lands of Wester Drone in the same sheriffdom. 22 February 1439: Charter by which David Bosvile of Craigincat confirms that he has given the lands of Wester Drone in the sheriffdom of Fife to Sir Andrew Ogilvy of Inchmartine, and his wife Marjorie, in exchange for Sir Andrew's lands of Balmulto in the same sheriffdom. Wester Drone was to be held by Sir Andrew and Marjorie and their lawful male heirs, whom failing by Alexander Ogilvy son and heir of David Ogilvy and their male heirs, whom failing by Sir Andrew's nearest lawful heirs. 30 April 1492: Charter by which David Ogilvy of Inchmartine salutes the souls of his father and mother, "Andree O. patris sui, Mariote 0. matris sue" and, with the consent of his wife Mariote Hay, confirms that he has given an annualrent of 12 merks from his lands of Petmedill and Inchmartyn to the Convent of the Friars Minor of Dundee. Sir Walter Ogilvy of Auchterhouse, Knight, Sheriff of Angus had issue: (3) Sir Andrew Ogilvy of Inchmartin witnessed a charter of Alexander Ogilvy of Auchterhouse in 1460 as 'patruus.' He received with Marjorie, his spouse, a charter of the lands of Wester Dron from David Bosvile of Craigincat in 1439, and was living in 1461, when Sir John Wemyss makes a grant to David, his son and heir-apparent. He married Marjory, daughter of Sir John Glen of Inchmartin and Margaret Erskine, and had issue a son, (i) David Ogilvy of Inchmartin, ancestor of the Earls of Findlater.
