He died on 27 May [1442]. Avice, wife of James de Ormond, knight, was his kin and next heir, viz., daughter of Richard Stafford, knight, son of Humphrey. She was aged 17 and more.

Sir Humphrey died on 27 May 1442 and was buried in the chapel dedicated to St. Anne which he had founded in the abbey church at Abbotsbury, next to another chapel in which his parents, wife and sons had been interred.
