Sir JOHN DOUGLAS, second son of sir James de Loudonia,* a brave warrior. He was captain and governor of the castle of Loch∣leven, which he gallantly desended against the English, in the minority of king David II.
He married Agnes Monfode, by whom he had six sons and two daughters.
1. Sir James, his heir.
2. William de Douglas, who died without issue.
3. Sir Henry Douglas of Lugton and Loch∣leven, progenitor of the present earl of Mor∣ton, of whom afterwards
4. Thomas de Douglas, who died without issue.
5. John de Douglas.
6. Nicholaus,* ancestor of the Douglases of Mains in the west of Scotland.
