  1. Ricahrd de Hellesby, a.k.a. Richard de Acton, lord of Hellesby, m. Alice, daughter of Sir Ranulph de Thorneton.

~George Ormerod's The History of County Palatine and City of Chester, Vol II, p. 72

Sir John de Hellsby, knt, most probably “second” brother and possibly heir of Adam. There is no little mention of him to be found, beyond the pedigrees, all of which concur in his being the first known bearer of the arms of the family. Sir John most likely died in the lifetime of his brother Adam. His wife is described in the Roll, referred to as Leuca de Arden, by whom he had left several sons, of which Hamon de Hellesby is there stated to be one. The later was grantee to Randulph de Hellesby, perhaps a trustee of lands in Backford and Chorleton. Another younger son of this sir John was Randulp de Hellesby, the most probable grantee of Adam de Hellesby. Hugh the son of this Randulph was probably Lord of Happesford and appears to have been joint Lord of Acton. He and his brother Thomas.
