About Sir John de Warren, of Poynton and Stockport
Sir John de Warren of Poynton and Stockport, knight, born about 1343, died 1387 and buried at Boton in Norfolk. Inquisition post mortem in 1392
He was the son of Sir Edward de Warren, knight (died before 1369) & Cicely de Eaton. In 1369 Isabel de Stockport ( de Eaton), heir to her brother Richard, died childless and the next in succession through marriage was Sir John Warren, son of Sir Edward Warren, the second husband of Cecily de Eaton, and subsequently family descendants went on through the Warren line. Around 1498 Thomas de Eaton married Anne of the prestigious Cheshire-based Vernon family.
Sir John was knighted about 1372, probably on his being appointed to attend the king in his expedition to France.

- Margaret, daughter and heiress of Sir John de Stafford of Wickham, Norfolk, knight. Marriage settlement dated 1371. (She remarried John Mainwaring of Over Peover about 1387 and died 1418. There is a monument to her at Over Peover.)

Sir John de Warren, married Margaret, daughter of Sir John Stafford of Wickham, Knight. Sir John and Margaret’s children were daughters Margaret and Isabel and only son Nicholas. His will was dated 8 Richard II (1384) and proved 10 Richard II (1386). Knight Sir John died in 1387, and his widow married Sir John Mainwaring of Over Pever in Cheshire. She died 1428.

The had one son, NICHOLAS WARENNE, and one daughter Margaret, wife of Robert Browe. he was heir in 1369 to his cousin, Isabel, daughter of Richard de Stockport, Knt., by which he inherited the manors of Poynton and stockport, Cheshire, lancashire, etc. SIR JOHN DE WARREN died 25 Nov. 1386, and was buried at Booton, Norfolk. His widow, margaret, married 2nd before 1401, JOHN MAINWARING, Esq., of Over Peover, Chester.
