About Sir Richard Tempest, IV, of Bracewell
Richard Tempest lV, of Bracewell, son of Roger Tempest and Alice de Rilleston, was born abt. 1198 in Bracewell, Yorkshire, England. He married Elena de Tonge in abt. 1220. He was Abbot of Kirkstall and claimed the right of presentation to the church of Bracewell, 1230/1, and it was yielded to him 1233.

[15] Eleanor Blanche Tempest, Tempest Pedigrees" shows Richard's wife as Elena, daughter and coheir of Richard de Tong, citing Harrison's History of Yorkshire, but says, "authority for confirming this not found yet." Elena de Tong is shown in several pedigrees as Richard's wife, presumably following EBT, but I have seen no evidence for this marriage.
