About Sir Robert de Haverington, Knight
As this profile suggested that Robert's mother was also the mother of his wife I have changed the profile to reflect that in Burke's Peerage 2003 volume 2, page 1789. Which is also summarised at http://www.thepeerage.com/p43184.htm#c431831.1 which, though incomplete, seems a safer starting point from where we can consider the obviously extensive research that has gone into http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/HARRINGTON.htm#Thomas De HAVERINGTON1 and investigate other leads from there.
A good start is to try and resolve the confusion that is created by the reference that Robert was born in Flemingby, England as there is no such place. There was, however, a Manor Flemingby, Cumberland which was named Flemingby because it was associated withe the le Fleming (or le Flanderensis) family The fascinating history of this area is covered extensively at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muchland#The_Lost_Villages_of_Muchland, a link that appears to be a rich source of further information about the Harrington/de Haverington family line. (Added by Will Chapman 4 th July 2015).
Robert De HAVERINGTON (Sir)
- Born: ABT 1251, Flemingby, England
- Died: ABT 1297, Aldingham, Lancashire, England

Notes: initially of Harrington, etc.; settled temp. Edward I at Aldingham, Lancs, which he acquired on marrying Agnes, dau. of Robert de Cansfield by Aline (sister and heir of Sir Michael Fleming or Furness, of Michelland or Muchland in Furness, and area of Furness whose chief place was Aldingham). [Burke's Peerage]. Lost all his lands but about 380 acres of the Manor of Flemingby in litigation with the Abbott of Holm Cultram, whose lands were north of the Monor. However, by marriage to Agnes, daughter of Sir Richard Cansfield, he secured the rich manor of Aldingham on Morcambe Bay in Lancashire and moved south to that location.
JUST A NOTE : all the accending Tree information was gathered from the Smith-Goodale-Caldwell family tree on Ancestry.com I have attempted to copy accurately, however I may have made mistakes in transfering, so I would suggest going th that site and checking for yourself. I am only copyint the info here, and have done none of the research. Any errors in research belong to the owners of the S-G-C tree.
