Thomas (3rd son), initially of Smailholm, later of Ferniehirst; in 1483 exchanged Smailholm for Crailing and Hownam with John Home of Whitrig; married Margaret, daughter and heiress of Sir Thomas Ker of Ferniehirst, which he thus acquired, holding it from the Earl of Angus. [Burke's Peerage]

He died after 24 June 1484.

I have linked this profile as son of Andrew Kerr and second wife Margaret Tweedle however the birth date you have for him, 1529 is a little late, I think. Do you have any reliable sources and do you think this is a good match or do you think I should reverse this?

Thomas Kerr, 1st of Ferniehirst was the son of Andrew Kerr of Auldtounburn and Cessford and Margaret Tweedie.1

He married Margaret Ker, daughter of Sir Thomas Ker of Ferniehurst.1 He died on 24 June 1484.1

He lived at Smailholm, Berwickshire, Scotland.1 He lived at Ferniehirst, Midlothian, Scotland.1
