About Tunibatta

Tumapa'risi' Kallonna (also spelled Tumapaqrisiq Kallonna or Tumaparisi Kallonna ) was an early karaeng or ruler of Gowa , who ruled from about 1511 to late 1546, and the first ruler to be described in detail in the Lontara Patturioloang Gowa . [ 1 ] He introduced written records and law to his kingdom, and began its expansion by conquering and establishing relations with his Makassarese neighbors . [ 2 ] He is also known for his internal reforms, including the introduction of the sabannaraq or harbormaster, the first bureaucratic position in the kingdom. [ 3 ] Under the rule of his sons and other descendants in the sixteenth century, Gowa continued its expansion and reform and eventually became a prominent power in the South Sulawesi Peninsula .

Karaeng Tunibatta merupakan raja kesebelas Gowa menggantikan saudaranya, Tunipalangga. Sebelumnya, Tunipalangga sempat menyerang Kerajaan Bone beberapa kali, tetapi semua serangan ini gagal. Pada penyerangan yang terakhir ia jatuh sakit dan kembali pulang ke Gowa sebelum meninggal tak lama kemudian. Tunibatta pun naik takhta menggantikannya.
Tiga minggu setelah kematian Tunipalangga, Tunibatta melanjutkan invasi ke Bone. Pasukannya menyerang dan membunihanguskan Bukaka serta mengacaukan pertahanan musuh hingga mereka mundur ke dalam benteng. Namun ternyata serangan balasan Bone pada sore harinya lebih mematikan. Pasukan Tunibatta kocar-kacir; sang Karaeng sendiri tertangkap dan dipenggal oleh pasukan Bone.
Putra Tunibatta yang masih muda, Tunijalloq, dinaikkan oleh Tumamenang ri Makkoayang untuk menggantikannya.
