Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj

People start to wonder what had happen to Mr Tunku Abdul Rahman (TAR) family? No representative in current Malaysia Political arena?

Lets start with a history preview on TAR.

H.H. Tunku 'Abdu'l Rahman Syed Putra Al-Haj ibni al-Marhum Sultan 'Abdu'l Hamid Halim Shah born at Istana Tia Tangga , Alor Star, 8th February 1903 . His mother was the sixth wife of Sultan's sixth wife and the daughter of Siamese nobleman, Luang Naraborirak (Kleb), a Thai district officer during the reign of King Rama V of Thailand.

His father, Sultan 'Abdu'l Hamid Halim had several wives and partners; Makche Manjelara(TAR Mothers) , Che Sofiah, Sharifah Fatimah Binti Syed Idrus, Sharifah Seha Binti Syed Hussein, Che Spachendra, Sharifah Mariam and Che Laraseh.

The sultan's seventh son and twentieth child with Makche Manjelara was Tunku Abdul Rahman.

OK. Everyone knows that TAR have lots of bini like his father do(Not BIKINI) . TAR is quite integrate person with wife from all races. Officially, his first wife is a Chinese woman named Meriam Chong ( also call as Y.M. Che' Mariam (died from malaria, 13th November 1933, also known as Chong Ah Yong, daughter of a Chinese tinsmith, She was ethnically Chinese and Thai), Both of them had Tunku Khadijah and Tunku Ahmad Nerang.

On Meriam's death, he married his former landlady in England, Violet Coulson(Coulson is actually his former landlady in England.). He was ordered to divorce her by the Regent of Kedah.

He then married Sharifah Rodziah Syed Alwi Barakbah (TAR 3rd wife), with whom he adopted four children, Sulaiman, Mariam, Sharifah Hanizah (granddaughter) and Faridah. Sharifah Rodziah served as Malaysia's first lady during Tunku's prime ministership. Y.M. Tun Sharifa Rodziah binti Sayyid Alwi was born at Alor Star, Kedah in 1920. She pass away at the General Hospital, Penang, 12th March 2000 and was buried. at the Royal Cemetery, Langgar. She was also the daughter of Sayyid Muhammad Alwi Barakbar.

Wanting to have more children of his own, he secretly married another Chinese lady named Bibi Chong(also known as Chong Ah Moi) who converted upon marriage. He had two daughters with her, Tunku Noor Hayati and Tunku Mastura.

Ok. Those that have real blood realationship with TAR is only 4 of this children. Tunku Khadijah and Tunku Ahmad Nerang. (from 1st wife, Che Mariam), Tunku Noor Hayati and Tunku Mastura.(from 4th wife, Bibi Chong, secret affair)

(A) Tunku Khadijah was the Eldest daughter.

Y.M. Tunku Datin Paduka Tunku Khadija binti Tunku 'Abdu'l Rahman Syed Putra Al-Haj was born in 1933 (daughter of Che' Mariam). She married to Sayyid Husain bin Sayyid Abu Bakar Shahab ud-din, and had issue, one daughter.

(B) Tunku Ahmad Nerang was the only son of TAR.

He is married at Bakar Bata, Kedah, March 1959, Y.M. Che' Puan Sharifa Nur Azar binti Tan Sri Sayyid 'Umar Shahab , daughter of Y. Bhg. Tan Sri Sayyid 'Umar al-Haj bin Sayyid 'Abdu'llah Shahab ud-din, Dato' Sri Maha Wangsa, former Chief Minister of Kedah.

(C) Tunku Noor Hayati

Datin Tunku Noor Hayati binti Tunku 'Abdu'l Rahman Syed Putra Al-Haj, also known as Tengku Puan Sri Jaya Raja was married to Tengku Datuk Muhammad Rizam bin Tengku 'Abdu'l Aziz (anak saudara Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah), also known as Tengku Sri Jaya Raja. He is currently Senior Vice-Presdt. & Head of the Ttechnology Banking Division of RHB Bank. He has issue, two sons and one daughter:

(a) Y.M. Tengku 'Abdu'l Rahman Petra bin Tengku Datuk Muhammad Rizam. born in. 1995.

(b) Y.M. Tengku Yahya Aziz Petra bin Tengku Datuk Muhammad Rizam. born in.. 1998.

(c) Y.M. Tengku Nur Qistina Petri binti Tengku Datuk Muhammad Rizam. born in.. 1992.

(D) Tunku Mastura

The Syariah High court of Penang come out with the Sijil Faraid which related to the list of beneficiary/ heir on the TAR's property/heirloom.

The name of Chong Ah Mei ,Tunku Noor Hayati and her 6 years younger sisters Tunku Mastura were withdrawn from the heir list. This was due to Bibi Chong(Chong Ah Mei( was not the legal wife of TAR.

Anyhow, Judge of Penang High court ,Datuk Low Hup Ming ordered 2 petition filed by Tunku Khadijah Tunku Abdul Rahman with Tengku Ahmad Nerang and Tunku Noor Hayati Tunku Abdul Rahman to refer to Penang Syariah High Court.

So at the end of the day, both party relationship were tarnish. ...
