About Walter Hamilton
WALTER HAMILTON
The Silver Lion Rampant in the Coat of Arms of the Hamiltons of Cambuskeith, afterwards the Hamiltons of Grange, appears to confirm their descent from Euphemia, Countess of Ross, daughter an heiress of the last native Mormaer of Ross
Walter Hamilton is the son of Sir David Fitz Walter, and his wife, Margaret Leslie Darryl Lundy's Peerage Margaret Leslie was the daughter of Walter Leslie, and his wife, Euphemia, Countess of Ross Baronage Euphemia, Countess of Ross, was the daughter of Uilleam the last native Mormaer of Ross Wikipedia: Euphemia, Countess of Ross
Walter Hamilton the father of David Hamilton of Cambuskeith in Ayrshire, Scotland. HG. Harvey Johnston tells us that Walter Hamilton is: "said to be the third son of Sir David Fitz Walter" Heraldry of the Hamiltons Who it was who first said that Water Hamilton was the third son of Sir David Fitz Walter is not clear but Johnston may have been referring to John Anderson, who, writing some eight four years or so earlier, makes the same suggestion, but identifies Walter as the second son rather than the third Memoirs of the House of Hamilton The modern Peerage Account of the Ducal House follows Anderson and Johnston but prefers not to deal in suggestions. Few would dare to argue Darryl Lundy's Peerage
Death
The date of Walter Hamilton's death is not known but if John Anderson is correct in saying that he was the recipient of a charter from Robert III, King of Scots, which was issued during the period 1390-1406 then he cannot have died any earlier than 1390 or later than 4 April 1406.
