Research Notes
7 Oct 1658, William Gough patented 1,000 acres of land in New Kent Co. VA for transporting 10 persons. [1] Cavaliers and Pioneers says it was a transport of 20 persons (p.380).[2]

Martha Goffe patented 650 acres of land formerly granted to Wm Gough by patent 22 Jul 1659 and by Wm assigned to John Madison and assigned to Martha Goffe, 8 Feb 1663." [2] William Goffe received the patent in 1659 showing he was still living at that time. The assignment to Martha in 1663, with no mention of William, would indicate that she was now widowed. On 21 Feb 1663, John Prossier also received 260 acres that had been William Goff's (p. 440). A grant on 23 May 1673, refers to "Martha Goffe, relict of Wm. Goff."

The ship "Amity" sailed on Oct 16, 1635 with George Downes as Master, bound for St Christopher (not Virginia). Among a large list of passengers was William (Willyam) Goff, aged 30. May not be him.
