WILLIAM HAMILTON OF ALLANSHAW [Note]
William Hamilton of Allanshaw is the second son but probably the eldest surviving son of John Hamilton of Allanshaw and his wife Janet Urie. He was born in June 1700 and his baptism was registered at Hamilton in Lanarkshire, Scotland. His baptismal record reads as follows: "John Hamilton and Jonet Urie spouses a son named William."
