William Macleod was born 26 April 1806 in Aird Tong Stornoway Isle of Lewis Scotland, and died 12 November 1869 in Vatisker Stornoway Isle of Lewis Scotland. He was the son of Kenneth Macleod and Catherine Maciver.
He married Christian Macleod, daughter of Donald Macleod. She was born 1809 in Aird Tong Stornoway Isle of Lewis Scotland.
Children of William Macleod and Christian Macleod are:
Death: Parents Listed: Kenneth Macleod & Catherine Maciver of Married to Christian Macleod; Willim died in Vatisker on 12 November 1869. His son Alexander was the informant on the death record 12 November 1869 in Vatisker Stornoway Isle of Lewis Scotland
Per ScottishRoots:
No official record was made of the birth or baptism of Alexander MacLeod - the grandfather of Mary Anne MacLeod Trump) but, according to the ages shown for him in various sources, i.e. census returns, his marrage [sic] and death certificates, he would have been born in Stornoway around 1830. This was before the advent in Scotland of compulsory registration of these events in 1855. His death record reveals that both he and his father had been crofters and that each of his parents was also named MacLeod - William and Catherine.

The "Croft History" of Vatisker (Gaelic - Bhataisgeir), produced by Bill Lawson for the Back Historical Society (Gaelic - Comann Eachdraidh Sgìr a'Bhac) was published last year. It includes genealogical information for this gentleman and other members of his family. His wife's family are also mentioned in "Tong: the Story of a Lewis Village," produced by the Tong Historical Society in 1984.
He was known as "Mac Choinnich," which would be "the son of Kenneth" in English. His death registration gives his age as 66, which would make his birth-year 1803. The Croft History gives it as 1804. I have no idea where the date of the 26th April comes from, as it was there when I adopted this profile. (William's sister Mary was an ancestor of mine.)
The Croft History of Vatisker says that William originally came from Back (Am Bac in Gaelic). He then moved to 7 Old Vatisker, and when the crofts were redistributed in 1850, he moved to 25 Vatisker, which is the last place he was recorded as living.
