Per tombstone, born in Yorkshire England, Came to Rowan Co, NY in 1755, Married 3 times, Died in Revolutionary War
"William Raper's family immigrated to America about 1754. William and wife Sarah, along with son Jacob, settled in North Caroline about 1755. They settled in Abbotts Creek near Highpoint, Rowan Co., NC which is located in Guilford County today. William and Sarah lived and raised five children in this area for the remainder of their lives. William purchased 520 acress in 1755 near Highpoint, Rowan Co., NC. In 1764 William sold 275 acres. He served in the American Revolution, providing supplies for the armies of Virginia and the Carolinas.
Sarah died in 1770, and William Remarried shortly thereafter to Rebecca Simmons. They had a son, William Raper, Jr., born 1771.
It is not known when Rebecca died, but William married again in 1793 to Elizabeth Hollingsworth.
William died sometime before Feb of 1795 as he made and signed his will in 1794, and it was presented to the court for probate in Feb 1795. In his will he names his children.

Also noted was that daughter Christina was named as "Christian" in William Raper's will and that she had passed away before William had made his will.

"Wiliam came from Wales on the ship "The Horizon" in 1754. HE owned interests in shipping in England and America. He bought land in Rowan County, NC in 1755. In the Revolutionary War he supplied the army in VA, NC & SC. He is burried at Abbotts Creek near Highpoint, NC."
"A marker to his memory is in Abbott's Creek Cemetary (erected 1936). Grave whereabouts unknown."
250 Acre plantation was left to son William. It is assumed that the older children were given the majority of their inheritance before his death.
