My great-great grandfather was Peter Forrester who emigrated from Kinghorn in Fife to Dunedin, New Zealand sometime between 1840 and 1890. We think he married a Miss Tanton from Wooladon Hall, near Sheepwash Village and Meeth in Devon. We understand he was married twice after his first wife died. He ran a heavy transport business from Lower Stuart St in Dunedin and had his house there until the harbour was filled for the new railway station. At that time the family story is that he shifted his house up to the North-East Valley of Dunedin. From copies of invoice forms his office and yard would have been opposite where the Law Courts stand today. We would like any information on 1. Where Peter Forrester was born and his birth date and the names of his parents. 2. When exactly he came to NZ - I understand it was on a ship called the "Aldinga". 3.. When and where he married his first wife and her name, parents etc and where she came from. 4 When and where he married his second wife and her name and parents and origin.
