Re Margaret Hancock (McCleave), Crawfordsburn, Laura Rail The account of the "rich lord" Alexander Gilmore, is nonsense. There never was such a person. There was an Alexander Gilmore or Gilmer who was a neighbourhood frmer. I grew up in the Crawfordsburn area and knew the Gilmer family. They were just ordinary small time farmers. Someone said he owned a plantation. There never was such a thing there. Plantations do not exist in Ireland. I am related to the McFerrens and McCleaves and have extensive knowlwdge of their history. The printed account should be changed for the sake of genealogical accuracy.
