Langsam or Lancsam as a Jewish name came from Poland as far as I know. Individual branches of the family went to e.g. the Austrian Hungarian Empire or various Slavic countries or territories. My father was under the impression that with German occupation the Germans gave the Jews surnames. Due to World War I and World War II both of which periods saw anti-Semitism, there was further dispersal to e.g. the U.S.A. and then to Australia and Israel . Those remaining in Austria perished and the family in Poland perished as is known.
