This ancient surname dates back to Roman times cerca 92 BC, from a Roman general named Vivio Pacieco (a descendant of Pro-consul Lucio Viminio Pacieco who served Julius Caesar during the conquest of of what is now Portugal and Spain). It is generally accepted that the Pro-consul settled in this area and that one of the general's descendants, a Don Diego López Pacheco, known as "el grande" was the first bearer of the Pacheco name in Spain.
Don Diego López Pacheco (b. 1456 in Villena, Valencia, Spain-d. 1529 in Escalona, Toledo, Spain) held the following titles:
- Duque de Escalona, conde de Xiquena
- Grand Master of the Order of Santiago
- Mayordomo Mayor de doña Isabel I reina de Castilla (1480-1504)

Pacheco families may be related to Sieko-Pai tribe in Amazonia among the so called Encabellado . Encabellado / Inka-Pellato may be a conglomerate headed by descendants of Inca leaders and of the basical people descending from Pella-Tawa-Ha son of Eg-Han-Nan-Nawa-ha son of Az-Arab-Be-Bal ,who are identical with Hanno and Asdrubal , chiefs of Punica ,ancestors of the Incas themselves too.
