All SIEFFS,SEEFFS,SIEWS,SIVES,ZIVES,maybe ZEFFS and ZEFFERTS and even SEEHOFFS[?] and SCHIFFS[?],etc., stem from the original ZIV,meaning "a bright light or radiance" in Hebrew. other posebility is a misspel of Jewish nationalety in France -Jieff - meaning Jew ... The ZIV ancestry includes a connection,by marriage,to the Vilna Gaon's line,which is apparently [very difficult to find proof,but does exist in (Russian) Georgia and Moscow] directly descended from the biblical King David;a DNA match would confirm! Perhaps more research has been done on this aspect,by those with better resources and time and financial means - this is a challenge !
there is also one more Ziv tribe came from Keidan Lithuania who related to the Broide family , since R. Shimcha Zissel Ziv was realy Broide before , and recived the "ziv " surname from his wife's family.
