Disputed Origins

Elizabeth's origins and last name at birth are unknown. There are no quality sources found to date that show that the Elizabeth who married Edmund Henchman was Elizabeth Platt. There are also no sources that show she was born in St James, Suffolk, England in 1605.

This profile has been connected to Elizabeth Hildreth, as her mother. But no record has been found to connect her to Elizabeth, so that relationship has been removed.

Biography

Marriage

Elizabeth married Edward Edmund Henchman I (1605 – 1668) in 1624 in England. They immigrated to Massachusetts in 1635 with their six children.

Thomas - 1630 – 1703 TWIN
Elizabeth - 1634 – 1687
Major John Hinchman Sr. - 1636 – 1688
Bridget - 1640 –
As Edmund Henchman's widow, Elizabeth married second Rev. John Fiske, August 1, 1672.[1][2][3]

Death

Research Notes

An Elesibeth Hinchman, widow, died at Chelmsford, Massachusetts October 17, 1704. It is uncertain if this record is for her; considering she remarried John Fiske in 1672 (he died in 1676), it seems her name would have been listed as Fiske rather than Hinchman. [4] No death record was found for Elizabeth Fiske in Chelmsford.

Per FindAGrave Elizabeth died 27 Oct 1668 (the exact same date as her first husband, Edmund) in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, but cites no sources. Her grave is unmarked and without a headstone.[5] NOTE: being that the date is the same date her first spouse died, it is likely in error, and should have read "after" the date shown.
