She married Samuel Doty (or Doten) on April 10, 1727 in Plymouth.[2]. He was born 31 January 1682 in Plymouth, the son of John Doty and Elizabeth Cook, and died there on 20 May 1740.

On 20 May 1740, Silas West of Plymouth, a shipwright was granted the administration of his estate. Samuel was a mariner.[3]

His inventory was recorded on 20 September 1740 in Plymouth.[4]

Together they had 4 children:

  1. Samuel Doty

  3. Hannah Doty
  4. Mercy Doty

She married her second husband, Cornelius Holmes (1696-aft 1753) on 21 May 1743 in Plymouth.[3]. The son of John Holmes and Sarah Thomas, he was Lydia Bennett’s widower.

In November 1753, Marcy and her husband, Cornelius Holmes signed a receipt for her share of her father's estate.[4]

Origins

Ebenezer Holmes died intestate and on 7 August 1752, Ebenezer Cobb of Kingston was granted the administration of his estate at Plymouth.[5]

His inventory was taken on 4 October 1753 in Plymouth. An account of his estate was also recorded. The remainder of the estate is set out to Nathaniel Cobb, Nathan Cobb, Job Cobb, Marcy Holmes, wife of Cornelius Holmes, Mary West, Elizabeth Holmes, wife of Thomas Holmes, Jr., and Jacob Tinkham (son of Hannah Tinkham, decd), the heirs of Sarah Bartlett (Sarah, wife of Thomas Faunce and Hannah, wife of Stephen Doten), and Ebenezer (eldest son).[6]

In 1753, his heirs signed receipts for their share of his estate.[7]
